Danse Diabolique
July 29, 2008 08:46 PM
according
to our dear conductor... this 'Danse Diabolique'
means...
dance of the devil
Can you believe it! and we're playing it for competition next year. sure it sounds okay, but like JLHL says, thee guy who wrote it wasn't a happy camper... It's so fast, you can play 10 bars in one breath... well, maybe that exaggerating a little.. but you get the picture!
The flute solos are absolutely nuts...
fine, as emi says weird... but I prefer nuts.
band is really drying me out, and somehow, it feels that we have everlasting things to do, nowadays, with the secretary being crazed, n.o. SAXR, but i guess i don't mind it, maybe really complainy, but learning to understand it and appreciate it and to live up to it and... well, rise to the occasion as i said before... anyways, I really like my job, but i wish it'll slow down... and then there's the ug.
ug ppl are really annoying. They all come up with crazy strange ideas, and we the school band are kinda like... treated like... what do you call it, a cd player. 'we need ya to play for pop- play!' and we spit it out, like we're pros. like com'on man! we're only kids, fine, teens, and now they want us to play for what they say ndp... on the 8-8-08 this year too! eng common test is on the 8th, connect sing is on the 8th too and now... ndp! hopefully alem got her facts wrong, i dun wanna play those songs again...
hiaz.. i suppose things dont really work out all the time...
aio rox...
that was random...
well, gotta rest up, there's a test in band tomorrow. ahtan gives everyone a different set too. like the sec 1s have to memorize scales up to 2 flats, the main band needs to memorize up to 4 flats and the committee, the exco, 6 flats and 2 sharps!!! on the flute!! it's crazy. SAXR has it good and what do you know, she has been saved from all the pains in a word, we, or i as an exco have. JLHL and MLHX and I have to do 9 scales! part and parcel of rising to the occasion... wadda do wadda do...

actually,
it's only 1. yesterday i was high, and today i'm
super moody, well, understandable to a certain
extent. there's a lot to consider, and maybe i was
just trying to tone down.
so many ppl finishing the chapter on the same day as me! bday's are such a beautiful thing, and im going to enjoy it, maybe. you only get one 15th birthday you know...
today we watched a movie in school. 'Facing the Giants' it was called... i tink. it was rather touching, a little blur from the back, but i liked it. it's references to the bible so often was really neat. i tink the number 15 boy david and his dad, and the couch of course, were really inspiring, in a word. that's one thing about our school, every year since we were in year one, we've gone to watch a movie every year. a chinese one in year one, freedom writers in year two, but this year the school got cheap and we stayed in school, in the hall on the floor no less, to watch it. and the kid in front of me, or rather SAXR, was moving quite regularly. and ZL was so tall she blocked the bottom of the screen. but i could see okay anyhow.
next biggest thing, my singapore-canada cousins are back! Emi and nick are back! and were gathering on sunday, for a set of two reasons, check xD contribution to Tom Riley campaign, and it'll be the cousins reunite! it's been so long, and we haven't had a single full reunion for a long time. this would be the first and I'm really looking forward to it!
okay, my 365th day of the dozen and second year is coming to a close now, figuring that out shouldn't be so hard. here's an aio quote for today! from 'The Vow': "Useless? I'm not useless, I'm just a pest!" ~Jimmy Barclay~ voiced by David Griffin, credited to Adventures in Odyssey by focus on the family.

*POP*
July 16, 2008 10:06 PM
pop is
coming again! what's pop? passing out parade. it's a
uniform group graduation parade. but the band is
heavily involved because we provide the music, the
national anthem, the school song, the general salute,
the marches... and that's why we have to stay back
more. it's becoming a pressure cooker these days.
there are extra practices. this week, there's fri and
sat practices and next week there are 4 in a row,
from wed through to sat. and that's very
pressurizing, since there are very few flutes left,
only the second and third year players have to come
and play. since the first year players can't play
yet, but they will have to. speaking of which... the
flutes are dead.
another thing is that the year has gone by so quickly. only a duo days left till this chapter of my life closes and a new one opens. boy, it's been a quick year, but i really have enjoyed it. too bad i missed the malaysia trip. but, i've been very high spirited these days, especially around my best -est friends. it's the hair. i have this thing for hair. the swishing of it and the laughing and reactions they have, maybe it's a little mean, but still, i should stop it though. actually, the best of my friends are band ppl. in fact, a lot of my friends are band ppl. but i'm very happy to say that i have a large social circle. it's good since i am a very antisocial person, but the social circle i have is substantial enough for me. I love having a lot of friends. but still, i don't have a lot to say...

The 1st class outing, but the 2nd post of the day
July 14, 2008 08:21 PM
About 22
people turned up for the bowling outing today. Half
the class, thus can be officially called a class
outing. They met at northpoint's macdonalds for
lunch. But since i ate at home, i was waiting at the
train station. I didn't know where they were, but
SAXR called me and told me to walk over to
northpoint. so i did, and upon arrival, i was greeted
by CTM with 'YO Sodium Chloride!'. ya, the beginning
of that tease was the emphasized SO in sodium. and
that evolved to be just sodium chloride. anyways,
SAXR saw me first but knowing her and me as we are,
we only smile. actually smiling is my way of
greeting. :p
so we walked to safra and it was a long slow walk, and we spent another long time deciding who would go on which lane, and it ended up 4/lane at 5 lanes. but there were some extra ppl in 5/lane. i can't remember all the guys, but there were only 9 early girls and one late and she didn't get to play, since we only played one game. there was KK, LPL, CLT, JT, CTLO, EILL, GLQX, SAXR and I. KK went with her gang, or rather LHP's gang. JT, GLQX, CTLO and EILL, in that order, where in lane 9 and LPL, me, CLT and SAXR, in that order, where in lane 10. i can't remember all the scores, but can remember some. GLQX had 28, or something, EILL had 83, the highest, and SAXR got 49, give or take and I got 57, i know a lousy score, but, hey, my mom's great bowling skills didn't all pass over since i was the second highest... or was it third highest...
Anyways, it was real cool cuz the guys kept coming over. the shirt colors were strange too. the guys i'm not sure and so don't i know KK. but, except me, SAXR and CTLO where wearing pink, it was the dress code but not a lot of ppl have oink, like me, until the class tee comes out. our class tee will be pale pink... weird color. SAXR was wearing a sleeveless black and white, i was wearing my blue mickey mouse shirt and CTLO was wearing white with pink lines.
Anyways it was a really cool outing. it's the first class outing i've been to, and i like it alot. i'm not expert at bowling and i don't mind having lousy scores, but i really love the bonding and encouragement my classmates give. 3e08 ROX!

bondage or bandage?
July 14, 2008 09:56 AM
14 july...
the sun rises and the day begins. waking up, we began
to realize today isn't normal. no... it's the 14th of
july and... THERE ISN'T ANY SCHOOL!
yes, one day without the stress of a schedule to follow, no lessons, no homework, except friday's work. and for another thing, the class of 3e08 is having their first CLASS OUTING!
it's never happened to me before, i've never gone out as a class. this would be the first time. so to yishun safra we'll go, well, that's the meeting place. we're supposed to go bowling, and a friend KK wants to go for a movie after that. but i've music lessons, so i'm skipping that. i hope it'll be okay. but JLHL isn't going but SAXR is and (that who cannot be named) is, which may tend to reduce it's effectiveness. anyhow, i'm looking forward to it and... well... will have to fill in the fine details won't i?
This is Carissa, signing off! for now at least...

post syf trauma, pre syf fear
July 11, 2008 04:22 PM
the
inbetween of two syfs seem like two ticks off the
wall clock. meaning? SYF IS HERE AGAIN!!!
maybe this doesn't mean much to all you ppl out there, so you must know that SYF is the one composition that determines how good, or lousy, we are as a high school band. The pieces we choose, or rather conductor chooses, determines our fate, in a matter of speaking. There is a given piece, the set piece, and a chosen piece by the conductor. And the trail piece number 1 is... CARMEN FANTASY!
Okay, so SAXR thinks it's nice, and i don't argue, well, technically speaking, i don't think i wanna argue with her, but it's true, i heard it on the web and it's a nice piece. BUT. as that may be, playing it is a totally different affair. I tell you that piece if H-A-R-D. No short way around it. i say hard and i mean it. well, then again i too said that about escape the last syf when i was in sec2. so i suppose this will be the same thing. i'll learn to play the piece and it won't be so hard anymore. and at least i can sight-read.
after syf, we're all traumatized by the results, in our case horrible to a bronze we got, and before the next one, we're all petrified, well to exaggerate a little, but all very uncertain to as whether we can pull this off. it's a fear, and as the new exco, which is a very pressurizing position, 'it's a real pressure cooker' ~Tom Riley~. But we'll pull through, and i will have to learn to overcome my SEVERE STAGE FRIGHT!!!
on note of band (did i say note? okay, maybe am freaking a little now...) RKJX is really really the SL for the clarinets! like i said, I can't believe it, and same as afore mentioned, it's really horrible and terribly extremely unfair to SAXR, gargantuan bias-ness. well, it's good for RKJX too, let him learn a little on being punctual and responsible, but it's an honor SAXR should have had! well, will have to hear from ahtan about the other sections, surely at least i can find out first?
btw, if your wondering why i don't use names, i think it's terribly unfair to deface things, and it's not nice for everyone to be able to track you down isn't it?
we were going with the librarians and p and vp to photocopy scores the other day. i guess PDP isn't so bad. kinda rough around the edges, maybe a little loser, but overall pretty cool, as in okay cool. i guess i'm going to have to learn to work with these people... never did say life was a straight line did I?
"Life is a roller coaster in the dark, you enjoy the ups and dread the downs. But in the end, you find that it was not so bad after all..."

class of 3e08
July 10, 2008 06:31 PM
Ever have
I been in such a bonded class, so to speak...
3endurace08, what a class...
first, it's teasing city, and i daresay CWL is the most irritating boy there is... 5words he says, and i might add it totally... argh
Then there's the name calling. Not bad names, just disrespectful, to tease by calling their parent's names. it's mighty disrespectful and somewhat annoying at times but even so, after a while, you kinda realize that their all just doing it for fun.
But still it's a real bonded class. we're going bowling at a country club on mon since there's no school, and KK and gang wants to go watch a movie after that. well, live and learn. i'm going, but will leave after early for piano lessons.
And also, it's a lame yet enthusiastic class. our class blog is so full of nonsense and lameness, yet to lively and everyone goes to it. 3e08... you'll never get another class as such... they even treat our teacher LCC as a peer sort of... it's mighty cool

Extended holiday nonsense
July 07, 2008 09:09 PM
I began to
realize that extended weekends aren't that good an
idea. ppl don't study on such a day. it's more like a
day to joke around and talk nonsense and flood the
internet.
checking out the blogs of other, every one has an over-flooded tagboards. speaking of which, it seems almost impossible to code a forum or shoutbox. Sighs, creating websites are really hard.
In extension to disappointment 100, the class trip up to malaysia is really becoming the talk of the year. The fun they had is almost more than tellable. it's great! is what they say, and... to borrow the album title... wish i was there!
tomorrow school starts again, and the routine'll start. I've always heard that when you start work you'll want to go back to school. But now in school, i really wish i were working...
This is Carissa, Signing off!
It's either i'm really supid or i'im really dumb. Or maybe i'm just being adolescent. but maybe keeping quiet works a whole lot better for me...

everyday posting??
July 05, 2008 03:08 PM
Kind of.
But it's been eventful so far...
Anyways I just wanted to address a matter at hand, of rather a friend that has been having worse luck than me at this current day and time, which is horrible since i have horrible days most of the time.
I really hope you're not angry
with me, and i promise i won't abuse power, or
act on it. but if i do, you'll be the one to
tell me i am ks?
That aside,
WHAT IS WRONG WITH AHTAN??
There's a lot of rumors going around the band about new section leaders and all that and that conductor of mine seems to have some problems. It's just so wrong!! there are some things you can swallow, and this is one thing i can't. If RKJX becomes the sl of the clarinets, i'll have a fit.
Then again, that is his business, but it is terribly unfair towards SAXR. Who those ppl are is for you to figure out, but those who know me and my friends, you should know COMPLETELY who those ppl are.

Peace on earth..
July 03, 2008 09:37 PM
Okay, that
was random.
Anyways, it seemed that i don't update my blog enough, even if not many people see my little blog here...
It might've been peace if we were all not so busied. but I'm beginning to learn that my new placing in the school band executive committee is not what is seems. There is a lot of outside thing i have to do that you don't see on the outside of the band. I may be getting slightly frustrated, but I think it's because I'm just starting out and, probably need to get into it, try to get to know the hows about this job. Hopefully I can do it well, and I'm looking forward to whatever is ahead for the band.
Actually mom wanted to go on vacation this december, but my instructor said he might want to have us perform in a concert right before the competition, SYF. But somehow, even though I simply love vacations and oversea trips and the holidays I have with my family, the pictures, the memories, the laughing...
But I don't feel like going overseas. I only have a year left in the band and maybe, since most of my friends are from there, in fact all my best of best friends are from the band. I wouldn't mind staying around here to be with the friends I love so much, that includes seniors, juniors and peers. Well, i guess i feel a lot differently about band now, it's weird.
Maybe I'm just a band geek.
But i like it that way.
Btw, if you actually visited my other page, i love ADVENTURE IN ODYSSEY! so, i love this episode, it's real sad, but it's quite touching. Donna really suffers hard. It's called Karen, by Adventures in Odyssey, a presentation of Focus on the Family:3-01 Karen

Blogs should be.... huh?
July 01, 2008 04:58 PM
I just
visited all the blogs i knew, class blog, band blog,
friend and juniors blog... and they were all the
same...
strange..
you see, they all have tag boards and lots of very personal entries, and i'm just not sure cuz my dad always say it's not good to give out personal information. but it really it cool to read though, maybe it's okay... i dunno...
anyways the results for the school band exco came out officially today, and maybe i should've run. it's kinda weird, the results that is. we had an interview and somehow, the results just seem wrong. the P and VP were expected and okay respectively, but the rest were kind of... i dunno, maybe jumbled or confused. for one, i got the post of secretary, and another kid who should've got it didn't get in, although i applied for it and she didn't. sigh... it's a strange world out there..
Oo, btw, not that any one'll see this, but i wanted to wish all the higher mt ppl good luck for their oral. hehe, mine's not for a long time yet. well, enjoy while i can i suppose.
this is getting weird...
the holidays have been over for a while and i'm still in the process of getting this thing up properly. speaking of which, please DO NOT USE the talk to whosoever forms, the are not working. note the note at the beginning of each page. Thanks
Erm... besides that, this place should be in order. updates coming soon, especially on the hk trip we made the week before last..
